McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo for GT Sport Revealed!

The Vision Gran Turismo cars were getting popular in Gran Turismo 6, but started to die down once Gran Turismo Sport was said to be launching. All manufactures stopped releasing their Vision Gran Turismo concepts, but with GT Sport launch getting closer we are starting to get more VGT cars once again.

Today’s new reveal is sure to excite a lot of people because it is from McLaren. Their real life cars, like the P1, are insane enough, and this new concept looks even crazier.

The McLaren VGT will have a gas and electric engines. One twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 gas engine to power the rear wheels, and two electric engines to power to the front. This brings the combined horsepower to 1134 with 940 pound-feet of torque, which is insane. What makes it even crazier is the car only weighs 1000kg. That is pretty much a Lotus with 1000hp, amazing.

The body is made fully from carbon fiber, and relies heavily on active aerodynamics to keep it planted to the ground. What is the most interesting is the aero is mainly holes that open and close. McLaren said this is a lighter and easier way of doing it rather than adding a bunch of moving pieces to accomplish the same thing. The livery McLaren has chosen is between three choices called Performance, Ulterior and Noir. Players can pick their favourite.

If the numbers and looks weren’t crazy enough, you have to see the interior. You do not really sit in this car, but instead “lay down” like on a motorcycle. Pretty crazier way to drive such a car, and I’m sure it would intensify the driving experience quite a lot. It also has a large piece of glass in front of you making visibility quite good.

Of course, this is just a concept car that will probably never see the real world. Although, it is interesting to see what McLaren would do if they could build anything they wanted. However, luckily for all of us Gran Turismo Sport players, we will get to drive the car in the game soon. Get your PS4 ready for October 17 when GT Sport launches!
