Are you playing the FIA Championship in GT Sport?

Gran Turismo Sport differs from other Gran Turismo games in the fact that it is much more about racing. You may be thinking, “but other Gran Turismo games were about racing too”. Yes, but with GT Sport they took things to a new level by teaming up with the FIA.

The FIA is basically responsible for rating all the players with various testing races. GT Sport players finally get a taste of what that actually means this week with the first FIA championship. There are two events the FIA GT Nations Cup and FIA GT Manufacturer Series.

The GT Nations Cup is an event based on your country. You and everyone in your country are essentially on the same “team” and are graded as such. The GT Manufacturer Series on the other hand is strictly a car manufacture race. For example, you pick which manufacture you want to race for and only other cars from that manufacture are against each other. Also, you do not have to own a certain manufacture’s car to race for them. They will give you a car to use for the race.

The first set of races have already started (November 4) and will end in a week on November 11. The times that these events are held are also dependent on your country. The 18:00, for example, is 18:00 PST for North America, 18:00 UTC for Europe, and 18:00 JST for Japan.

You are allowed to enter into both events. You will then pick a time slot to enter your race per day, and points are given out based on your placing. The top three finishes during the week determine your final score. That means you don’t have to worry about completely screwing up one race since it won’t be counted for the finals.

I have heard mixed reviews on GT Sport so far with some people saying they love the new style, and other saying they hate it. However, this is the first real taste of what GT Sport is all about. Have you entered, or are you excited about these events? Let us know in the comments.
