Ford Focus RS ’02

All the rage in the automotive world is about the new Ford Focus RS. Yes, the 2016 Ford Focus RS is a nice car and has lots of features, but it costs a crazy amount of money. For example, I literally just went to a Ford dealer here in Canada last week to ask about it and the salesman told me they only got one in and it sold the same day to someone in the province next to mine, but the guy paid $61,000! I don’t care how good it may be that is a crazy high price for a Ford Focus. However, this isn’t the first RS model and no one ever talks about just how good the older RS models are. Not only did the 2002 model look good, but it is also an amazing car. I actually didn’t realize just how amazing it was until I started tuning it. I tuned it to the max to be used with sports soft tires, but I highly suggest using racing soft tires for max performance. The reason for that suggestion is that the car has a lot of power for an FF. It will burn your tires doing anything with sports tires and really needs racing tires to handle it. With racing soft tires this car is a monster. It weighs nothing and has so much power making it one of the best FF cars easily. It is probably my favourite FF car in the entire game as it feels like a rocket and handles like a laser guided missile. Truly a special car, and I actually like it a little more than my newer model Ford Focus ST. In terms of track times for cars in its class it is quick, but at the end of the day it is still an FF Ford Focus. Don’t expect to be beating any Ferrari times, but it will be right up there with cars like the Lotus Elise.

this is a fun little car to drive..surprisingly flat when it should understeer..the srt 4 neon is another ff car with potential..you know me i love the under dogs..no one wants a neon lol..surprisingly quick tho..

  • David Decker

oh..and 560 bhp..that helps..any pointers on how to get some of that understeer out?

    • The neon is the “fastest” ff car in the game. The problem is it has way too much power. It will never be able to control it and will always have major problems. I haven’t tired tuning it many times but it is just a pure beast that does what it wants lol.

  • David Decker

lol..it definitely threw me for loop when i put it on the track the first time..but i was just messing around and your recent focus tune actually matches up pretty good i got them running close to the same times so its not to bad. still a trip though lol

    • Lol ya that car is cool

This car is fantastic. Only trouble is the gearing from start. It is very slow off the start and most cars leave it behind and you are in catch up mode. Is there any thing you can recommend to get the gearing better for the start.

    • That’s a tricky one. Usually have to redo the entire transmission. Starting in gear 1 with the brake held and slamming the gas should raise the rpm for a faster start, however.

      • Lotus freak

Thanks for the quick response. I tried that but still does not work. If you get a chance please re-do the transmission. It really is a great car, With a better trans it could be a giant killer. My other question is about the wheel size, you don’t mention have wheel size you are using.

        • I can possibly try it, but I didn’t find it to be too big of a deal. You are usually always moving on a track and rarely slow down enough to the point of it being a problem.
